MOMA Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities 2021: This scheme was introduced in the year 2006 to encourage the students of minority communities to minimize the school dropouts. This scheme is organized and funded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), Government of India.

This is one of the schemes under the umbrella of PM Scholarship Schemes. It provides financial support to parents from minority communities to send their children to the schools.

This scheme is applicable for the students pursuing classes 1 to 10 in all the Government and private schools.

MOMA Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities 2021

Every year around 30 lakh students are getting benefited from this scholarship apart from the renewals. The primary aim of this scheme is to encourage the parents to send their child to the school by providing financial assistance.

As this is a Central Government Scheme, students pursuing classes 1 to 10 from all the regions of the country are eligible to apply for this scheme. 30% reservation is provided for the girl students of minority communities.

Eligibility Criteria:

The following are the eligibility details that the student and the parents must fulfill.

  • The annual income of the family must not cross Rs. 1 Lakh from all the sources.
  • Students pursuing Classes I to X are eligible to apply
  • Must belong to the minority community only
  • Community Certificate of the Parent/ Guardian
  • A self-certified community certificate is required if the student crosses 18 years of age
  • The student must score at least 50% marks in the previous academic year (For Renewals only)

Bank Account Details:

The parents/ guardians should open a bank account in the name of the student or a joint account of the student and the parent/ guardian.

  • Make sure you link the Aadhar number with the bank account
  • Complete the KYC process of your account
  • The bank account must be in the active state
  • Make sure you select the right bank & enter the bank account number correctly while filling the application form
  • Entering the inappropriate/ incorrect bank details may lead to cancellation of the scholarship

How to Apply for MOMA Scholarship?

The application process is carried out through online mode. The eligible candidates are required to submit their application at the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.

What is the National Scholarship Portal?

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is a central government portal dedicated to organizing the central government scholarship schemes.

  • Firstly, candidates have to visit the NSP’s official portal www.scholarships.gov.in

MOMA Pre-Matric Scholarship Renewal

The candidates once awarded with the scholarship have to renew their application on the same website.

The primary eligibility factor is the student must pass the previous year with at least 50% of aggregate. The respective certificate has to be uploaded at the time of application renewal.

The renewal process is different from fresh registrations. Follow the below steps to get your application renewed.

  • On the home page of the website, you will find the Login button at the top right

Important Guidelines:

Go through the following guidelines to avoid the application rejections.

  • This scheme is only applicable to the above-mentioned minority communities, no other communities are eligible to apply
  • A valid income certificate is mandatory to apply for this scheme
  • A maximum of two students are eligible to apply for the scheme from one family
  • The student should be regular to the school and his/her discipline of action should be good
  • Improper attendance and discipline in the school may lead to cancellation of the scholarship
  • The maintenance fee and the tuition fee will be transferred to the student’s account directly
  • The student is eligible to apply for only one scholarship out of all Central Govt. Schemes
  • The student must enter the Aadhar card details correctly and make sure to link the Aadhar number with the Bank’s Account
