MOMA Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities 2021: The students of minority communities pursuing the 11th and 12th classes can apply for the MOMA Post-Matric Scholarship for the year 2021-2022.

The aim of the scheme is to encourage minority community students to pursue their higher education. Candidates who belong to the minority community from any region of the country can apply for this scheme.

Background:

Instigated in the year 2006 to encourage the merit students of minority communities to pursue higher education by providing financial support. This scheme was funded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), Government of India.

There are a total of 3 schemes under the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA). The Post-Matric scholarship scheme is one of them.

MOMA Post-Matric Scholarship for minorities is for the economically weaker sections in the minority communities. The applicant must be studying either 11th or 12th classes only.

Every year around 5 lakh students are getting benefited from the MOMA post-matric scholarship scheme. Over 30% of the reservation is provided to the girl students.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The family’s annual income should be less than Rs. 2 Lakh from all the sources.
  • The student must be pursuing Class XI or XII
  • Applicant must belong to any of the below-mentioned minority communities

The following are identified as minority communities under Section 2 (C) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.

Note: The monthly stipend is provided for only 10 months in an academic year.

Bank Account Details:

The scholarship amount will be credited to the student’s bank account directly. So, the student should have an active bank account before submitting the application.

The following are some instructions while entering the bank account details

  • You must link the Aadhar number with your bank’s account
  • Complete the KYC process of your account
  • The bank account must be in the active/ operative state
  • While filling the application form, make sure to select the right bank & enter the bank account number correctly
  • Entering the inappropriate/ incorrect bank details may lead to the cancellation of the scholarship. The scholarship amount will not be given even though you are in the list of shortlisted candidates

How to Apply for MOMA Post-Matric Scholarship?

All the candidates have to submit their applications through online mode only. The students have to submit the application on the National Scholarship Portal website.

What is the National Scholarship Portal?

It is a central government portal where all the scholarship-related activities are carried out.

The candidates who are not aware of the application procedure can follow the below steps.

  • Go to the NSP’s official portal www.scholarships.gov.in
  • On the home page, you will find the “New Registration” link (as shown in the below screenshot)

  • On the bottom of the page, check out the three boxes to continue to the next level

  • Cross-check the details entered before you click on the “Register” button
  • After the successful registration, you will be receiving the Application ID and Password to your mobile number and email ID

  • Enter the Application ID, Password, and the CAPTCHA code to log in
  • Select the Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities and upload the required documents
  • Your application will be submitted successfully

MOMA Post-Matric Scholarship Renewal Process

The students have to renew their scholarships for the next academic year by uploading the necessary documents. The renewal process is also carried out on the same website.

The student must pass the previous year with at least 50% of the aggregate. The pass certificate has to be uploaded at the time of the renewal process.

The renewal process is different from fresh registrations. Follow the below steps to get your application renewed.

  • Candidates have to visit the NSP’s portal
  • On the home page of the website, you will find the Login button at the top right, click on it

Important Guidelines:

Go through the following guidelines to avoid application rejections.

  • Only the candidates pursuing 11th & 12th classes are eligible to apply for this scheme
  • Students who are pursuing 11th or 12th clas level technical & vocational courses are also eligible
  • The applicant must belong to the any of the above-mentioned minority communities
  • A valid income & community certificate is mandatory to apply for this scheme
  • The candidate must score at least 50% marks in the previous academic year to renew the scholarship
  • Only 2 students are eligible to apply for this scheme from one family
  • The student should not migrate to another college/ institution to apply for the scholarship renewal
  • The student should be regular to the school and his/her discipline of action should be good
  • Improper attendance and discipline in the school may lead to cancellation of the scholarship
  • The student is eligible to apply for only one scholarship out of all Central Govt. Schemes
  • The maintenance fee and the tuition fee will be transferred to the student’s account directly
  • The student must enter the Aadhar card details correctly and make sure to link the Aadhar number with the Bank’s Account
