Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Minorities: This scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA) to encourage the students of minority communities to pursue professional and technical courses.

The students who belong to the below-listed minority communities can apply for this scheme by providing the necessary documents.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Minorities 2021

The Merit-cum-Means scholarship for Minorities is provided to the students who are pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate level technical/ professional courses in the country. The selection procedure and release of funds will be organized through the State Government Administration.

Merit cum Means Scholarship for Minorities

Every year, around 60,000 scholarships are distributed to the minority community students through this scheme. Based on the population in the state, the scholarships are distributed among the states. 30% of the scholarships are reserved for the girl students.

The application process is carried out online mode on the official website (National Scholarship Portal).

Eligibility Criteria

The applicants must fulfill the following factors to apply for the Merit-cum-Means scholarship.

  • Must belong to any of the below-mentioned minority communities
  • Students must have scored at least 50% marks in the previous academic year
  • The income of the family/ guardian must not cross Rs. 2.5 Lakh per annum from all the sources
  • The student must be studying any of the technical or professional courses of undergraduate/ postgraduate level
  • Only 2 students from a single-family are eligible to apply for this scheme

  • A self-certified community of the student if he/she crosses 18 years of age

Note: The maintenance allowances will be provided for only 10 months in an academic year.

How to Apply for Merit-cum-Means Scholarship 2021

After arranging the required documents, eligible candidates have to visit the National Scholarship Portal website to submit the application online.

  • On the home page of the website, you will find the “New Registration” button, click on it
  • Go through the guidelines provided on the new page
  • Agree to the terms and conditions at the bottom of the page
  • Click on the Continue button
  • Now the Registration Form opens
  • Fill out all the mandatory details in the form and submit
  • You will get notified with the Login Credentials to your mobile number and Email ID
  • Use the above button to go to the login page
  • Enter the credential received into the page & login to your dashboard
  • Select the scholarship from a list and click on it
  • Fill the empty fields and upload the necessary documents
  • Submit the Application
  • The confirmation SMS will be sent to your mobile number
  • You will get notified if you are shortlisted

Scholarship Renewal

The Merit-cum-Means scholarship is valid for the entire course duration only when the candidates renew it every year.

The renewal process is also carried out on the same website. This time, the candidates have to choose the login button to renew the scholarship.

The primary eligibility to apply for the renewal process is to score at least 50% marks in the previous year.

The pass certificate is mandatory to upload during the renewal of the application.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: Guidelines

Go through the below-mentioned guidelines carefully to avoid application rejections.

  • Only the students pursuing technical or professional courses are eligible to apply for this scheme
  • The courses must be undergraduate or postgraduate level only
  • Those who are failed to score 50% aggregate in the 1st year will not be able to renew the scholarship for the next year.
  • The applicant must not be benefited from any of the other central govt. scholarship schemes
  • The student should be regular to the college/ institution with a satisfactory attendance percentage
  • The students should not change the institution/ college during the course
  • Uploading improper documents or entering invalid/ false details in the application may lead to cancellation of scholarship and will be blacklisted
  • Be careful while entering the bank account details
  • Entering wrong account number/ IFSC will be lead to cancellation of scholarship even though you are in the selected list
  • The bank account provided should be linked with your Aadhar number
  • Make sure you must have finished the KYC (Know Your Customer) process for your bank account
